This Thread is Intended for Assignment Information and Pro Member Submissions, Not Commentary, take that to Flickr or to a separate thread. We will be pruning the thread of non-Pro member entries. Please do not take offense.

As always if you do not have a profile picture, or you are new, your assignment is to do a self portrait, then use it as your avatar!

If you do not have an avatar, it's a great time to get one so we know who you are!

General Assignment Rules:
Please post these pictures in our Flickr Pool and tagged with the Flickr tag below. If you are new please read up on our New User help guides. Please limit your count of images to two (2).

As always if you have old images please do not submit more than one (1). The assignments are to get you out shooting, not looking into the past. We understand though that we often have some nice treasure in the past, just limit your selection and go out and shutter anew.

Please keep this thread clean of commentary is possible. It's to be used to highlight the Pro entries.

Assignment:

Portraiture

This is a great opportunity to sit someone down and do a real portrait. We are focusing on people for the portrait; that being said it can be environmental, it can be classic. Scott will add some information to the thread to help give you some ideas. If you don't have your portrait for the site done, this is a fantastic opportunity to even do self-portraits.

Make sure you add it to our group pool too just in case Flickr's tag indexing is slow or mal-behaved.

Captions!!
Please give a caption to your photo so we can better understand your intent and theme orchestration.

I could not link my photo to this forum, so I linked the page here.

Her name is Nevaeh. This was taken at an extended family outing at a park near Rock Hill. I snapped the camera until I got her smile.

This was shot at JLHill Studio. A 30 X 60 soft box was the main with a 32 X 40 soft box as a fill. A 10 X 36 gridded strip light was used as a hair light and a 20% gridded spot was used to light the background. This was my first baby session and it was a blast!

My first portrait. I used two softboxes 45 degrees in front of the subject with the box on the right used for fill.

Although there a wave of heat had come over us, my niece and nephew journeyed out to play. As the adventure began, I grabbed my D90 and headed out of the house. Along the way we stopped at a neighborhood park and the kids began to swing. A few moments later my niece had enough of the heat and sought the shade of the nearby tunnel. Upon entering the tunnel, she posed for a quick snapshot.

Captured at "high noon", 35mm, and just before luck before the frown.
