So everytime I upload something It looks all cold and flat with little contrast. I use lightroom export it then upload to flicker and somewhere in the process i mess something up... any ideas?

Are your files sRGB? If not, you may need to convert before or on export for web images. Hopefully that helps!

srgb and don't save metadata to icc profile.
best option is to use save for web option. |

In the LR Export dialog I use these settings:
File Settings - Format = Jpeg, Quality = 80, ColorSpace = sRGB Image Sizing - Resize to Fit = Width & Height, uncheck Don't Enlarge, W: 800 H: 800, Resolution 72 dpi Output Sharpening - Sharpen For: Screen, Amount = Standard Metadata - check Minimize Embedded Metadata, check Add Copyright Watermark Post-Processing - After Export = Do Nothing I left out some of the sections but I have a preset for LR Export for Web (includes these) and another preset for LR Export for Print. Export for Print has higher res, larger size, no watermark. Both presets have the sRGB colorspace. I got these from Scott Kelby's book Lightroom 2 for Digital Photographers. It is a good book if you can put up with Scott's conversational writing style. I agree with Lindsay, if what you see on Flickr is different from what you see on your monitor, it is probably the Color Space. I rarely ever use anything but sRGB. |

Here is another idea. What browser do you use? Saw this thread in a Flickr group:
http://www.flickr.com... Since it looks like you export, then upload (instead of using a LR plugin to export directly to Flickr) see if you can open the jpg that is on your HD using your browser and/or another image viewer. Is there a difference in what you see in LR compared to what you see in the browser version? PS: I looked at the shots you posted last weekend. They look warm and have considerable contrast range on my monitor. |

I added a bunch of contrast lets see what that does. Its converted to SRGB when I do the export in LR.

This has happened to me before too...when I calibrated using spyder. No matter what I did (save for web or srgb) it was wrong outside of photoshop. And what's worse it it printed just like it showed on the web (flat...dull...blah). I never could figure out why so I just took the caibration off and everything is hunky dory.

Ok I have 5 different computers in the house. On one laptop it looks perfect one its way to dark. One desktop it looks flat and one desktop it looks a bit to dark but not as dark as the laptop. I added contrast an uploaded them again and it looks ok on the one machine but not the others. What do you guys think too much contrast now?

Ok I have 5 different computers in the house. I think you have too many computers! Have you calibrated any of your monitors? Img_2228 looks good on my Laptop, I will have to have a look at it on my calibrated monitor. |
