60 minutes had a story on these guys too. Unfortunately one passed away when his skis didn't release. I don't know if I could ever do that. I don't like the ground (ie: hard solid impenetrable objects) to be that close to me. It does look amazing though.
In another hundred jumps I'll probably buy a wingsuit. It takes you from a 54s freefall to something around 2m, which is just amazing in itself.  |

If anyone is into filmmaking - check out Warren Miller. He has done some AMAZING ski films. He always shows a new film at a national race that my son has been invited to a couple of times. It was either last year or the year before one of his camera guys had been doing some of this mountain base jumping and died the day before the showing. Talk about sobering for the skiers at the event. It does look like a total rush though.

Base jumping is just wild.
I have skydived 3 times, but doubt I will ever base. I have an adventurous cousin in Norway that was big into base jumping and had numerous injuries. He is even in several jumps in a movie called "1st Base" http://video.google.c... That's him at the start in a multi person jump, and at about 1:33 into it on far left riding in a helicopter to the cliff, and 2:20 off an antenna. Probably a few other clips too. |

My dad gave me some good advise. He said there are only two things that fall from the sky...Idiots and bird droppings. :)
I do not have the stones to jump out of a perfectly good airplane much less off a clif. |
