Recently joined your new member, VegasMoose's Jeep club and learned how easy it is to meet people and organize events. Photography has been big hobby for last (cough) 40+ yrs. Time I joined a club like this!
Intermediate. Had SLRs and a darkroom as a kid. Have been into digital since the beginning but I'm no technician, like those "strobists"!
Umm, cityscapes, landscapes, even people who put up with me! Yeah. People, especially! Profile pic is my daughter, 19. Original pic had her at top of long, dark stairs, 25 ft. away. No flash. Thanks to Paint.net, my cheapie Photoshop!
First is the Nikon D-80, usually with the 18-135mm it came with but I also have a cheap longer zoom. I keep my new Nikon CoolPix S8000 in my pocket except when I don't have one, (in the shower)! Broke the last three Casios so it's all Nikon for me!
More skills but, mostly, trips to take pictures with others as obsessed as I am! Much more interested in picture-taking trips and projects than meetings!
"I put "Charlotte" as where I am but, if you really care, (which no one does), we're in, (I think), the city limits of Fairview in Union County. I say that because the Googled Fairview, NC is in the mountains. East of Mint Hill, Goose Creek Tnshp!?"
Large and very active group, low on "demands" and high on very varied opportunities, both in the field and "in class", social gatherings, etc., to learn and develop our skills, classroom and field! Rob

I don't know. I haven't seen any images from the day other than the one's I shot.
Rob, thank you for the lovely compliment! Truth be told, it's groups like this that have allowed me to progress in my hobby. Lori Jill has created a real "mastermind" group here, where everyone shares their experience and learns together. I can't tell you how much I have learned from others in hands on situations with this group that could not be duplicated in a classroom setting. From basics to business to very technical lighting scenarios, this group covers it all! Glad you joined us!
Welcome to the group, Rob.
Thank you Rob for joining the group. You are already an advance level photographer and I'm sure you will provide some guidance. The key to successful photography is to learn about lighting, using it and controlling it to our advantage. We will learn how to photograph the light and shadow that is casted on the subject rather than the subject per se.
Hi Rob, I originally inquired to ask about their hiring a shooter for the event then realized a friend of mine has been shooting it. Then the follow up for the restrictions were sent. Yes, I think they were thinking if you were a pro coming in these were the rules, I'm certain a lot of folks shoot pics there for personal use.
I checked into the Steeplechase, in order to get in to photograph there is a waiver involved that requires in order for you to shoot there, you have to give them all of your images free of charge for their use, anything you post from the event they have to be credited, and in order to shoot you have to first cover part of the event they need covered. This is in addition to the photographer, a friend of mine, they hire for the event. Oh, and dont forget to bring your first born too!
thanks rod for your help with the jeep meetup group $$$ wise $20.00 to help keep this site alive.
