I frequently use Adobe Lightroom for my editing - switching back and forth from Photoshop when needed. In fact I use Lightroom for 100% of my work - everything I do goes through it and I def. know how to navigate the tool. If you ever wanted to have a session on photo editing / lightroom - please let me know as I'd be up for leading a small group through a session.
My son-in-law's father is part owner of Skytech, the company that runs the Rock Hill Airport. He is willing to run a tour of the facility and allow us to take photographs of the aircraft and anything else we find interesting. It would be held on a weekend day and last for 2-3 hours. Any interest?
I do photography so I can change everything using Photoshop, like making montages, creating special FX, and much more. Are there any other folks out of our plus 1,000 members who are interested? If there are enough of us, perhaps we can create a sub-group within our main body of members. Who's interested? What are your ideas along this line?

I think this would be a fun day getting pictures of an array of animals plus just being outside.
I've been to this place. Lots of trains to shoot and a bit more. I believe it's "free", being a state exhibit. It's about an hour up I-85. I think we could, even, take the Amtrak there, (ZZzzzz). I know the train visits in Monroe were a huge sellout. Maybe this will help fill that bill! See http://www.nctrans.org/plan_visit/general_info.php or here's the contact info: NC Transportation Museum

Has this one been tried before? Here's a really cool and traditional full-on steeplechase. Several horses were hurt, last season! :(
There is, however, some photogenic stuff among the horses, spectators, "upper-crust" spectators, and overall beautiful scenery. Bring long lenses and tripods to shoot the action from on-high. It's a HUGE track but the sidelines are well-covered by spectators. There's, just, a lot of fine "visuals" and most, there, will be carrying cameras so, play it as you like! ;) I've posted two ideas, in this section but I don't know how to carry forth any chat about them. I'll keep an eye on the message boards, now that I know they are there!

This is NOT the standard, ready-to-go, what's-the-admission project. I arrived here nearly four years ago and have had, in my mind, a major mission to find ways to record the collapsing barns and farm life we can see, from the road, as we travel Union County and all the rest that are no different. I don't know quite how to approach the owners. There must be a few among us who are up to "leading" a couple of carloads, (=four truckloads), of suitably-dressed photographers into our most remote areas to charm farm owners into letting us records their beautiful, crumbling and rusting memorabilia of decades gone-by. I think we might be pleasantly surprised by their appreciation and attention. Just my guess, based on so many I have met, over the years. I'll try to make a thread on the message board where we can discuss this idea. I KNOW many of us are dying to do this!

P.S. Moose and I and a few others have Jeeps waiting for permission to carry us wherever to find sights worth recording and sharing w/owners!
I have been thinking about this for a while, but what do you think of a northside scavenger hunt? The idea is to have a list of objectives such as take a picture of people in love or of a pineapple. The judging would be based on two things completion of the objectives and then some judging using a similar point system as the monthly contest. Might even allow teams and take the highest scoring photos from each. I'm open to ideas for the event and prizes.
See Borka's idea below and just transpose everything to the South part of Charlotte (which, conveniently, is closer to the pineapple producing regions of the US).
I gave a brief talk last year about close up flower photography....I'd be willing to do it again. Spring is just around the corner, so it might coincide well with folks getting out and shooting flowers.
