CPMG member George Holt has arranged for us to meet regularly at the Quail Corners location of the Dilworth Coffee House. We'll be getting together for some after hours strobist activities. This won't be a class per se, but will be a great opportunity to learn about small flash off camera lighting. We will be arriving a bit before the coffee house closes so everyone will be able to order some drinks. After the doors are locked we will have full run of the place to satisfy all our strobing and shooting desires. This is a regular event that we do twice a month.

For anyone who has no clue what is meant by the term strobist, head on over to www.strobist.com and check it out.

What to bring: your camera, your small lighting gear (studio lights aren't recommended), a humble attitude and thirst to learn hands on in a group environment.

This event is free to Pro Members and carries a cost of $3.00 for all other members. Please pay through amazon payments. We would rather not handle cash at the event and we will not have change. If you are a Pro Member please ignore the link that takes you to amazon payments. You should still be able to rsvp yes without paying. This way we don't have to go and refund you and worry about amazon service charges.

This will be our first "field trip" coffee and strobes of the year. We will be meeting at the Levine Museum of the New South. Please park in the 7th Street station deck directly behind the museum. As long as you arrive no earlier than 5:00pm we will be able to validate your parking in this deck.

This larger location will allow us to accommodate more people than the coffee shop does. The total for this event will be 18 instead of our usual 12. Half of the RSVP's will open at noon on the 20th, and the remainder of the spots will become available at 9:00pm that evening.

It was fascinating to see what each of you picked out to shoot. I see this stuff everyday but you all gave me new eyes. I am open to a return visit if Scott is.

Thanks to Blayne for getting us after hours access to the museum! This would be fun to do again.

I made it! :D I'll be there with my, umm, "minimalist" strobe. OK. I hate strobes. Prefer a tripod, wireless release, and more time. :P

Maybe if I learn better ways to work with strobes... Hmm...

They could be run over and over.. We welcome you to run one. Scott gives his free-time in this fashion and it is popular, but the faces do change over time. For the level we currently run at there is definitely going to be over demand for the supply and as I understand it there are a number of new activities about to sprout up. If you want to expedite that find a location, stand up and say I'll be the focal point and we'll turn you loose. This is people working with each other.

These hyper-sold-out events, (like the trains in Monroe?), seem like events that could be repeated, two or three times until all are "satisfied". Is that not possible with one like this? I got my email, earlier today. Rushed to sign up. Learned I could not and to return for the "second" sign-up at 9:00 PM. Missed that! There's got to be a better way!
