CPMG member George Holt has arranged for us to meet regularly at the Quail Corners location of the Dilworth Coffee House. We'll be getting together for some after hours strobist activities. This won't be a class per se, but will be a great opportunity to learn about small flash off camera lighting. We will be arriving a bit before the coffee house closes so everyone will be able to order some drinks. After the doors are locked we will have full run of the place to satisfy all our strobing and shooting desires. This is a regular event that we do twice a month.

For anyone who has no clue what is meant by the term strobist, head on over to www.strobist.com and check it out.

What to bring: your camera, your small lighting gear (studio lights aren't recommended), a humble attitude and thirst to learn hands on in a group environment.

This event is free to Pro Members and carries a cost of $3.00 for all other members. Please pay through amazon payments. We would rather not handle cash at the event and we will not have change. If you are a Pro Member please ignore the link that takes you to amazon payments. You should still be able to rsvp yes without paying. This way we don't have to go and refund you and worry about amazon service charges.

The new year has brought some improvements to coffee and strobes which will hopefully address some issues that we've had in the past. To start with the sign up process will be a bit different. Half of the rsvp's will open at noon with no waiting list. The remainder of the spots will open back up at 7pm the same day and the waiting list will start then. Hopefully this will give folks who only have internet access at home the same opportunity afforded to those that have it throughout the day. We also will be venturing out into the city a bit more this year as well as possibly changing our "home" location.

the format of coffee and strobes is set. attendance is limited b/c of the location. we occasionally change locations to add variety and the attendance limits change as well. keeping the group small is part of what makes it such a valuable experience. i understand that not everyone gets in every time they would like to. that's why we offer the event twice a month. it is not a class, and i personally don't want to see this particular event turn into a class.

I mean, that is an aweful alot of people on a waiting list. I know I am new but can we not meet in a place that could allow more people or is it too hard to teach more people?
