Charlotte Roller Girls are home again for a fan appreciation game. You can check out the gallery for some shots from the past event. What we found was getting there early was key to getting a good floor spot. However if you don't care about being on the level there is a lot of room to move around, go upstairs and get a different vantage, or just come out and chill.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on your panning / tracking, handling changing lighting conditions, or just take a moment and have a good time in between holiday craziness.
If you come late we can probably be easily found as our group generally stands out with the amount of cameras. Many of us also have on our orange lanyards, don't be shy, say hello.
Sorry I never got back to the board. Mike the lighting ranges as the sun goes down and it transitions into those metal halides or HPS. Faster glass the better. You'll be sliding all around your settings finding the groove between motion and subject blur. I usually kick around my 50mm & a rather slow 55-200 and kick out a flash to help.
Any advice on what to bring to this event. It is better to bring one lens and work with it or bring my bag and swap lenses? What lens do you recommend? 2.8 wide or 70-200? Is there a lot of room in the stands? Is a monopod recommended? I want to be a light and mobile as possible and preferably bring just one lens. 17-50 or 70-200, any thoughts?

I'm really bummed about not getting to make this meetup... I'd love to see the images everyone gets. The rollergirls are a fun group!
